Microblading Q & A

What is microblading?

Microblading is a cosmetic treatment that improves the look and shape of your eyebrows. During treatment, your aesthetic expert uses a microblade tool and semi-permanent colored ink to create fine lines that look like your natural eyebrow hairs.

The cosmetic treatment improves the look of your eyebrows and enhances your natural features. It also eliminates your daily need to fill in your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil.

How do I prepare for microblading?

When you visit The Alternative Touch Wellness for your microblading consultation, your aesthetic specialist provides specific instructions on how to prepare for your eyebrow-enhancing session.

You may be asked to:

  • Avoid caffeine the day of your microblading
  • Stop waxing or plucking your eyebrows
  • Limit sun exposure up to three days before your session
  • Discontinue Botox®, chemical peels, and other facial treatments
  • Skip your workout on the day of your microblading

It’s important to note that your eyebrows can’t come in contact with water for up to seven days following your treatment. Your specialist at The Alternative Touch Wellness may also suggest you wash and style your hair the morning of your microblading session.

What happens during microblading?

After reviewing your plan and color choice, your aesthetic specialist applies a numbing lotion to your skin to minimize discomfort during your session.

They carefully and expertly use the microblade tool to apply the strokes of color. The entire process may take up to two hours.

After your session, your eyebrows may appear darker than expected. This is normal and the color fades within a week.

Microblading is semi-permanent, and the results last up to 18 months.

How do I care for my eyebrows after microblading?

Your provider at The Alternative Touch Wellness gives you instructions on how to care for your eyebrows following microblading. The team recommends you:

  • Carefully wash your eyebrows with antibacterial soap and water daily
  • Limit eyebrow water contact for up to 10 days
  • Avoid eyebrow makeup during the healing process
  • Protect your eyebrows from the sun for up to four weeks

The team also recommends you not pick at the scabs that form on your eyebrows following microblading. These scabs fall away naturally within a week or so.
